news about Linda Ronstadt?

Linda's recovery from recent surgery seems to be on track. In fact she's made a few apapearances recently with Ann Savoy to promote Adieu False Heart. The album was recently nominated for a Grammy in the Best Traditional Folk category but it did not win.

Rumours have started that Linda is about to start work on a live Jimm Webb album which is great news for fans of Linda's previous work from his category.

See Linda and Ann Savoy sing Walk Away Renee and Too Old To Die Young from their new album on Amazon Fishbowl. Wonderful!

Linda's new album, Adieu False Heart, was released on July 25th in the US and will be released on August 7th in UK. The album of duets with Ann Savoy, features Linda singing lead on three tracks and sharing duet vocal on a third, Walk Away Renee.

Its been over a year since the release of her last album, Hummin' To Myself, which marked her first CD as part of a special deal with Verve. This album sold a disappointing 75000 copies. Over the last few years there have been three "greatest hits" collections with another one planned for release in January 2006. Thankfully this one, The Capitol Years, includes a few new, previously unreleased live and rare tracks.

A new mini tour around various US cities is underway. Further details can be found via Ticketmaster.

Its So Easy is featured on the soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain! This album also features other great tracks including new music by Rufus Wainwright. When Will I Be Loved is also featured on the Must Love Dogs soundtrack.

Heart Like A Wheel - released November 1974

Considered to be Linda's breakthrough album, Heart Like A Wheel set the formula for her 70s sound and launched her into the California country/rock Queen.

The album contains an eclectic mix of country, rock, pop and folk songs and produced a range of fan favourites that in some ways have haunted her later in her career. You're No Good is a great song, and has a wonderful sound coming from Linda in 1974 as a 28 year old - but its one of those tracks that fans scream and shout out for still today at concerts and its not where Linda is at this time in her life as a 60 year old.

The standout tracks for me include Heart Like A Wheel, Willing and I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You), the latter being a wonderful duet with Emmylou Harris of the Hank Williams classic.

Linda has stated that she's not a fan of this period of her music any longer, however she occassionally drops one or two old tunes into her concerts. Last year she sang Heart Like A Wheel to close her concert at the Beacon Theatre and it brought down the house. It shows that classic songs can still be sung with class and conviction 30+ years later....buy it and find out.
